Team socials in London
A social is the easiest booking to get right and the easiest to get wrong. The format matters less than the start time, the room, and whether everyone can take part in the same way. Below are live London options, how to time an after-work evening, and how to run one where the drinking is optional.
The difference
A social is not afacilitated session
Both are team time, and they are different bookings. The room, the price and the format all follow from which one you are actually buying.
A facilitated session has a brief
A host runs an exercise, people work in small groups, and there is usually a debrief at the end. Something is being done to the group on purpose, which is what a training budget pays for.
A social has no brief
The point is time together with something to do. Nobody has to learn anything or present anything back, and the format only has to make talking easy for people who do not sit near each other.
That changes what you look for
A social needs a room people can talk in, a start time that survives a working day, and a reason to stay past the first round. Difficulty and skill matter less than whether the quiet half of the team can join in.
The intent decides the budget
If the group is new to each other and needs help starting conversations, a facilitated format earns its price. If everyone already knows each other, a table, a workshop or a game night does the same job for less.
After work
Start times thatsurvive the day
The difference between a social people come to and one they drift away from is usually the timing rather than the venue. Work backwards from the moment people actually leave the office.
- 17:45People leave the officeCount from when they really leave, not when the last meeting in their calendar ends. Anyone crossing London needs that travel time inside the plan.
- 18:15ArrivalHalf an hour of arrival time means the first people are not standing on their own and the last two are not holding up the host.
- 18:30The activity startsPut the start time on the invite and hold it. A format that waits for latecomers punishes everyone who arrived on time.
- 20:30Food or a second roundBook the table for after the activity rather than during it, so the structured part has a clean end and nobody is eating over a workbench.
- 22:00Finish, with the option to stayGive a finish time and the nearest stations. Anyone who wants to leave on time can do it without explaining themselves.
These times are a shape that works on a weeknight, not a fixed schedule. Move them to fit your team’s travel, and check the last train for anyone commuting in.
- Keep the booked part to a length people will commit to on a weeknight. Two hours of activity is an evening; four is an occasion.
- If you want a Friday or a date in December, send the request earlier rather than hoping the venue still has it.
- Ask the venue what happens between the activity and the table, and whether you keep the room for both.
- Tell people what the evening includes before they decide: the activity, the food, and whether drinks are part of the price.
Alcohol-free
Socials where thedrinking is optional
A social built around a bar quietly leaves out everyone who does not drink, and that is usually more people than the organiser expects. Partners can mark an alcohol-free option on their listing, and the catalogue can be filtered on it. Every format below works with no alcohol at all, and the questions underneath are the ones worth asking before you book rather than on the night.
Alcohol-free cocktail classes
The technique is the activity and the spirit is the only variable. A host who runs the session properly will build the whole thing without it.
Coffee, tea and chocolate tastings
Cupping and comparative tastings give a group the same shape as a wine flight: something to compare, a host to explain it, and a table to talk across.
Cookery and baking classes that end in a meal
The food carries the evening, and the drinks list becomes an add-on rather than the reason people are there.
Workshops with your hands full
Pottery, life drawing, screen printing, floristry. Nobody is holding a glass while they work, which is the friendliest way to run a mixed group.
Gallery lates and evening walking tours
A late opening or a walk gives the group something to look at and somewhere to move, with no bar in the middle of it.
Quiz, games and bowling
The activity carries the evening, so nobody is standing about waiting for the next round to have something to do.
Before you book
- Ask what the venue pours instead, and whether it is a proper alcohol-free drink rather than a soft drink in a wine glass.
- Ask whether the price changes for anyone not drinking. If the drinks are most of the cost, the alternative should show in the price.
- Put the alcohol-free option on the invite next to everything else. Offered as a fallback, it is something people have to ask for.
- Check that the room and the seating work for a group that is not drinking. A standing bar is hard work for anyone holding a tonic water.
Live options
Live optionsin the catalogue
There is no “social” filter in the catalogue, so this is a cross-section of live London listings rather than a claim that every one is a party. Each card carries the neighbourhood, the group range the venue accepts and the venue’s fixed price. “pp” means per person and “total” means the price covers the group.

FAQ
Booking ateam social
- What is the difference between a team social and team building?
- A facilitated team-building session has a host running an exercise, usually with a debrief at the end. A social is time together with something to do and no brief. The room, the format and the price differ, so decide which one you need before you compare options.
- What time should an after-work social start?
- Work back from when people actually leave the office. A start around 18:00 to 18:30 usually leaves enough time to travel after work, and half an hour of arrival time before the activity keeps the group together. Whatever you choose, put the start and finish times on the invite.
- Can we run a social with no alcohol?
- Yes. Partners can mark an alcohol-free option on their listing and the catalogue can be filtered on it, but it is still worth asking the venue directly: what they pour instead, whether the price changes, and whether the room works for a group that is not drinking.
- How much does a team social cost?
- The listing shows the venue’s fixed price, either per person or as a total for the group. Cultura Club does not add anything to it. Budget separately for travel and for anything after the booked part, because those are not in the price. Self-serve covers 3–20 people.
- What happens if people drop out after we book?
- Headcount changes are a conversation with the venue, and they are easier before the event than after it. Cancellation is free seven or more days before, half of the venue’s share applies from three to seven days before, and nothing is refundable inside three days. Cultura Club’s 10% platform fee is not refundable once a venue has accepted.
- When is my card charged?
- Your card is authorised when you submit a request and captured only when the venue accepts. If the venue declines, or the request expires after 24 hours, the hold is released and nothing is charged.
- We are more than 20 people. Can we book a social online?
- Not through self-serve, which covers 3 to 20 people. Send the concierge team your headcount, date, area and budget per head and they will come back with options. Larger groups run into capacity and minimum-spend questions that a single listing cannot answer.

Filter the live catalogue by team size, area, duration and budget per head, or start with the alcohol-free options. Save what works to a shortlist and send one booking request: the venue answers within 24 hours and your card is captured only if it accepts.
